About Bóka Sal
Bóka Sal is a listing and enquiry service. We are not a party to the rental agreement between a guest and a venue owner, we do not own or operate any of the venues listed, and we do not take payment for rentals. Venue owners pay a monthly subscription for their listing (see Subscription below); the service is free for guests.
Subscription
Listing a venue requires an owner subscription. Three plans are available: Teiti, which is free of charge; Veisla, at ISK 5,900 per month for each listed venue; and Hátíð, at ISK 14,900 per month. Prices are stated in Icelandic krónur. The service is free for guests, and rental payments continue to pass directly between guest and owner without Bóka Sal acting as intermediary.
Payment terms
The subscription fee is collected monthly by invoice. Payment falls due on the invoice issue date, with a final due date 14 days later. If an invoice remains unpaid past the final due date we may send a reminder, and if the arrears persist we may unpublish the owner’s listings until the amount owed is settled. Penalty interest is governed by the Act on Interest and Price Indexation, no. 38/2001.
Price changes
We may change the prices of the subscription plans. A price change is notified to the owner by e-mail with at least 30 days’ notice and takes effect from the first billing period after the notice period ends. An owner who does not accept the change may cancel the subscription before it takes effect.
Cancellation of subscription
There is no minimum term; the owner may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and fees already paid are not refunded. On cancellation the venue’s listing moves to the Teiti plan, or is unpublished if the owner so requests.
Bookings
A request sent through the site is an enquiry, not a confirmed booking. It becomes an agreement only when the venue owner accepts it. Cancellation, deposits, damage and any other terms are agreed between the guest and the owner directly.
Venue listings
Owners are responsible for the accuracy of their listing — size, capacity, prices, availability and permits, including any licence required to serve alcohol. We review listings before publishing but do not inspect venues. We may remove a listing that is inaccurate, unlawful or misleading.
Prices
Prices shown are supplied by the owner and are indicative. The estimate shown when you send a request is a calculation from the published price list; the owner confirms the final amount.
Adverts
Adverts on the site are marked as such. We are not responsible for goods or services sold by advertisers.
Liability
We provide the site as it is. We are not liable for loss arising from a cancelled event, an inaccurate listing or an owner who does not honour a booking.
